“Art does not reflect the visible; art makes visible.” Paul Klee
|
Art and culture means breaking exciting new ground that just waiting to be explored – and having fun in the process!
|
The Kindermuseum Creaviva is the first children’s museum worldwide to be dedicated exclusively to the work of a single artist.
Children, youths and adults have the opportunity to experience the universe of Paul Klee and learn more about art in general using a creative interplay with shapes, colours and sounds as well as the fascination of theatre and literature.
Mission Statement of the Kindermuseum Creaviva The Kindermuseum Creaviva focuses primarily on stimulating the creative potential of children and young people. The Kindermuseum Creaviva is also responsive to adults and to people of different backgrounds. Paul Klee is the catalyst for practical and play-oriented art mediation, but he is not necessarily the object of it. The Kindermuseum Creaviva makes a constructive contribution to the appreciation of culture in our society by offering an aesthetic education. The Kindermuseum Creaviva embodies education, creativity and meaningful recreational activity. This involves a constructive process rather than passive consumption. The Kindermuseum Creaviva puts quality and innovation before quantity; its scope may be modest, but what it does, it does with style. It is prudent with its finances. The Kindermuseum Creaviva works at the highest level to fulfil its remit, but without raising the bar unduly: it wants to reach as many people as possible. The Kindermuseum Creaviva is embedded within the Zentrum Paul Klee but possesses an autonomous profile; it sees itself as a centre of excellence for the interactive mediation of art. The Kindermuseum Creaviva has an essentially regional scope, in contrast to the Zentrum Paul Klee; the Kindermuseum Creaviva brand, however, resonates both nationally and internationally. The Kindermuseum Creaviva demonstrates a high degree of creative, human and ethical competence. The Kindermuseum Creaviva is characterised by its commercial thinking and actions. The Kindermuseum Creaviva aspires to financial independence. The services it renders the general public are backed by the Regional Cultural Conference of Bern and the Zentrum Paul Klee within the framework of a service level agreement.

Ted Scapa, artist and member of the FME Board.
„Children are very creative and have a vivid imagination. Unfortunately some of that is lost between the age of 10 and 12, which means we only have a short time at our disposal in which to nurture or stimulate existing abilities and skills. As the name “Kindermuseum Creaviva” implies, it is meant to be a place of creative activity. At the Kindermuseum Creaviva children and their parents are introduced to the art of Paul Klee as part of an extensive programme of events.” Ted Scapa
