Rachel Kolly d'Alba was born in Lausanne in 1981; she joined the Lausanne Conservatory at the age of ten, and in 1996 obtained her violin diploma and, in 1997, her teacher’s and chamber music diploma. In 1998 she joined the soloist class of Igor Ozim in Bern to further her studies.
The young spirited violinist has already won many prizes at international competitions. Already in 1994 she won First Prize at the Jeunesses Musicales Competition in Zurich, followed by a First Prize with Honours at the Moudon Music Competition and a First Prize at the Kiefer-Hablitzel Competition. In 2000 she was a finalist at the Concours Eurovision in Lugano. In 2005 Rachel Kolly d'Alba won First Prize and the Audience Prize at the international competition Julio Cardona Portugal, Covilhã.
Rachel Kolly d'Alba is regularly invited as guest soloist at many premier festivals, including the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, the Festival de Divonne and the International Music Weeks in Este, Italy.
