Clémentine Deliss and Oscar Tuazon have invited an exceptional faculty that reflects the different approaches to their concept. Swiss artist Christoph Büchel will talk about his work to participants, including his current attempt to bury a Boeing in the desert. Adrian Piper will develop a further aspect of the Sommerakademie concept by presenting the unflinching performative stance that characterises her radical position as an artist and philosopher. Joe Scanlan, known for his on-line sales of artist-made coffins will workshop the idea of low-tech economies and survival as an artist today. Martin Kimani, the security analyst from Nairobi whose work deals with the relationship between suicide bombers and belief, will look at the cryptological connotations of culture, death, and memory. Finally curator Giovanni Carmine will lead a two-day expedition with the participants into the mountains to discover some of the historical reduits and bunkers in the Swiss countryside.
