The basement floor of the Middle Hill comprises the hall for temporary exhibitions, with a total dividable surface area of 830 square metres. Every year about four special exhibitions are shown here; while inspired by Klee’s art, they extend far beyond his own work, in some cases reaching into the present.
Main themes include Paul Klee’s cultural, historical and artistic background as well as his vast influence and his work’s impact, right into the 21st century. All the temporary exhibitions refer back to Klee, either directly or indirectly, and constantly renew the dialogue with the main collection presentation.
The Zentrum Paul Klee also shows less extensive theme-based exhibitions in the Forum (North Hill), in the Museum Street or in the children’s museum Kindermuseum Creaviva.
