Schoolchildren’s drawings – the Hochreutener Collection

Over 1,000 drawings of great educational value.

The Kindermuseum Creaviva has an extensive didactic collection of schoolchildren’s drawings from the 1950s and 1960s, a donation by the St Gallen educationalist Hans Hochreutener.

The collection is being structured at the Zentrum Paul Klee using scientific means and will be accessible to teaching staff and, at certain times, to the general public, too.

Between 1951 and 1961 Hans Hochreutener collected the art work of the pupils he taught at a special 5th/6th year in St Gallen. For him, encouraging the creative skills of his pupils was closely linked with their personal character development.
