Swiss State Secretariat for Education and Research (SBF) information week
Under the banner “Achieving Excellence Together”, the SBF is running a national information week in association with Euresearch and launching the EU’s 7th Framework Research Programme.
International Conference on Bilateral Cochlear Implantation
Bern University, the University Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic and the Inselspital Bern are organising a scientific congress focused on the bilateral implantation of cochlear implants. This intervention helps children born deaf to hear and learn to speak, while adults who lose their hearing can be helped to regain it.
Presence Switzerland: exhibition of competition entries for Switzerland’s World Expo pavilion
Presence Switzerland ran two competitions to decide who should design the Swiss pavilions at the World Expos in Zaragoza in 2008 and Shanghai in 2010. The two winners and all the other entries were on view at the Zentrum Paul Klee as part of a joint exhibition.
4th Shoulder Symposium
Under the scientific direction of Dr. Eduard Buess, two shoulder operations were performed at one of the operating theatres of Bern’s Sonnenhof Clinic Engeried. Images of the interventions were transmitted live to the Auditorium at the Zentrum Paul Klee and watched by a large group of medical specialists. The digital link allowed two-way interference-free image and sound transmission, which meant that the symposium attendees and surgical team could commentate, ask questions, etc. in real time while the operation was in progress.

International Conference on Geological Repositories
This international congress on the tightening of safety precautions affecting geological repositories was held at the Zentrum Paul Klee and organised by Switzerland’s National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste (NAGRA); it was opened by Federal Councillor Moritz Leuenberger.
Tele Bärn: "BZ-Talk" live broadcasts
The Zentrum Paul Klee Auditorium’s high standards and excellent media technology infrastructure are put to regular use for Tele Bärn’s "BZ-Talk" live broadcasts.
Galenica AG: worldwide video conference
Galenica AG used the Auditorium on 18 December to host a worldwide video conference with business partners in the USA and a variety of European countries.
