The weekends throughout June, July and August 2008 will witness the East of Eden garden transformed into a picnic meadow featuring invited guests. Visitors will be experiencing all kinds of art-based activities and live performances, including high-wire acrobatics, land art, odes to nature, football golf, garden DJs, meadow dancers, déjeuneurs sur l’herbe and open-air happenings. The Mass & Fieber group, one of Switzerland’s best-regarded theatre companies, will be installing a zoo containing real people. The vocal ensemble voc à lises fix will be performing songs from Otto van Greyerz’s Röseligarten collection of songs, and the fearless performers of Öff-Öff-Productions will be seeking to conquer Renzo Piano’s hills. John Milton’s great 17th century literary work Paradise Lost is to be transplanted onto the picnic meadow, and the Dutch Compagnie Dakar, which has been making waves at festivals across Europe, will be here performing in Switzerland for the first time, turning the Zentrum Paul Klee’s front garden into an eerie “braakland”.
Free entry Admission to the East of Eden garden is free. Picnic fare will be on sale or visitors are free to bring their own.
