To ensure the attraction and lasting appeal of Paul Klee’s educational and didactic concepts the Bern patron of the arts Prof. Dr Maurice E. Müller set up the Fondation du Musée des Enfants auprès du Centre Paul Klee (FME) on 10 June 2002.
The Foundation is based on the idea of enabling children, young people and adults to gain access to art and culture in a perceptive and realistic manner. To this end the children’s museum Kindermuseum Creaviva was set up at the Zentrum Paul Klee.
The Kindermuseum Creaviva is a department of the Zentrum Paul Klee and is under its own management, which in turn answers to the Fondation du Musée des Enfants auprès du Centre Paul Klee and the Director of the Zentrum Paul Klee.
The Fondation du Musée des Enfants auprès du Centre Paul Klee is a foundation established under private law. It contributes annual funds of around 800,000 Swiss francs to the ordinary running of the Kindermuseum Creaviva. The Stiftung Zentrum Paul Klee (Zentrum Paul Klee Foundation – SZPK) for its part provides 400,000 Swiss francs towards the operations of the Kindermuseum Creaviva.
