The following departments were created to set up a business structure for the ordinary day-to-day operations and the wide range of mediation and research tasks carried out at the Zentrum Paul Klee:

• Collection curatorship, exhibitions and research:
  Artistic Director: Prof. Dr Tilman Osterwold (since 1 December 2003).
• Communications and Mediation:
  Director: Ursina Barandun (since summer 2001).
• Facility Management and Operations:
  Director: Markus Klopfstein (since 1 April 2004).
• Music:
  Artistic Director: Kaspar Zehnder (since 1 December 2003).
• Children's museum Kindermuseum Creaviva:
  Director: Adrian Weber (since 1 October 2003).

The City of Bern electorate and Bern’s Grand Council have voted in favour of a one-off loan of around 7 million Swiss francs for the set-up activities until the opening of the Zentrum Paul Klee in summer 2005.
