A cultural centre in harmony with the environment

Environmental issues high on the agenda ever since planning phases began
It is assumed that at least half the visitors to the Zentrum Paul Klee will arrive by bus, coach, bicycle or on foot. To ensure this, the No. 12 bus route (direction Schosshalde/Zentrum Paul Klee) is being extended; access from the tram terminus at Freudenbergerplatz (Tram No. 5 direction Ostring) is being improved; and the network of cycle lanes and footpaths is being complemented.

Noise emission within tolerance range
Blocking off through traffic on Insula dulcamara (formerly Friedhofweg) has considerably relieved the burden of traffic on the upper Schosshaldenstrasse, which is why additional noise abatement measures are not required. Only the section Insula dulcamara – Laubeggstrasse on Ostermundigenstrasse is to be provided with new noise abatement installations due to the anticipated increase in traffic.

The environment as key planning issue
Compatibility with the City, district and the environment was a key aspect of the planning work. No archaeological finds were made nor were any hidden environmental liabilities uncovered. The premises listed in the conservation inventory were not affected. The Landhaus Schöngrün and the farmstead have been preserved.

A total of some 70 new trees have already been planted on the public squares and along the streets.
