A Puppet-Making Workshop Inspired by Klee’s Hand Puppets

In this weekend course, we create artistic figures that resemble Dadaist collages. Like Klee’s hand puppets, they appear both as sculptural objects and as theatrical characters waiting to be brought to life. Following Klee’s example, we use a wide variety of materials such as plaster, sockets, beads, nails, shaving brushes, walnut shells, and more. The clothing is made from fabric scraps or parts of old garments.

We give the completed figure a “mysterious name” and playfully explore the character that has emerged. After building the puppets, we conclude the two-day course by developing a contemporary and imaginative puppet performance—to which friends and family are warmly invited.

Two weeks before the course begins, we will inform you by email whether the minimum number of participants has been reached. If the course cannot take place, the course fee will be refunded.
